| SME Education Foundatioin- FIRST Robotics Scholarship | A. All applicants must be seeking an associate's degree or bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing technology, or a closely related field of study. B. Scholarship applicants must possess an overall minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 point scale. C. Applicants must have participated in a FIRSTRobotics Competition or FIRSTTech Challenge during high school. D. | 2009 Presidential Scholarship Competition | full tuition | Apply to Concordia University at www.cuaa.edu or submit a paper application Receive full acceptance to Concordia University Ann Arbor by November 3, 2008 Cumulative GPA of 3.6 (4.0 scale) Minimum of 27 on the ACT or 1210 on the SAT Submit an activity roster showing high school (freshman-senior) and community activities that you have participated in along with any positions or leadership roles that you have held. | Passion for Fashion Scholarship | full tuition for the Art Institute | The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion Competition offers high school students interested in Fashion Design or Fashion Marketing & Merchandising or Retail Management an opportunity to win a full tuition scholarship to study at one of The Art Institutes schools. Open to high school seniors across North America, The Art Institutes Passion for Fashion Competition was created to encourage and reward young fashion design and fashion marketing, merchandising and retail management talent at the high school level. The competition consists of two categories, Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing & Merchandising and Retail Management. The grand prize in each category includes a full tuition scholarship to The Art Institutes school location with a Fashion program at which the student entered the competition. In addition to a full tuition scholarship, each grand prize winning student receives an all-expense- paid trip to New York City for Fashion Week in February 2009 and a “meet and greet” at Seventeen magazine’s offices. Deadline for entries into the competition is November 21, 2008. To be eligible, students must be a senior in high school, set to graduate in 2009, complete an entry form, have a minimum G.P.A of 2.0, write a short essay describing their interest in fashion and submit a finished, originally designed evening wear garment and process book, for the Fashion Design category or a create a product or plan for the Fashion Marketing & Merchandising and Retail Management category. | The Violet Richardson Award Program | $1,000 | This award program is for young women ages 14 to 17 who volunteer within their school or community. The Violet Richardson Award recognizes young women who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts such as: fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment; and working to end discrimination and poverty. | Specs Howard 2009 High School Scholarship Competition | partial to full-tuition | Specs Howard School offers innovative hands-on learning programs for radio, television/video and graphic design! Each year, Specs Howard School awards one full-tuition and three partial-tuition scholarships to hig hschool seniors pursuing an education in broadcast arts. This year, Specs Howard is proud to announce it has created separate scholarship opportunities for students interested in graphic design! Specs Howard School will now award two full-tuition scholarships and six partial-tuition scholarships to students interested in pursuing and education in media arts! Scholarship testing will take place on December 6th, 2008. The testing starts at 10AM and lasts about an hour. The test covres general aptitude (language, reading comprehension, math). | AXA Achievement Scholarship | $10,000- $25,000 | The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers college scholarships of $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. | Metro PCS Community Scholars | $1,000 | Applicants to the MetroPCS Community Scholars Program must be high school seniors attending high school and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. | Young Authors | $50-$200 | The Columbia College Chicago Fiction Writing Department announces our YOUNG AUTHORS 2009 writing competition. Young Authors began as a local contest in 1995. Since then, it has become a national competition with thousands of students from over 20 tates sending in their writing. In past years, student writers submitted fiction and creative nonfiction writing. Last year, in addition to fiction and creative nonfiction, we also asked your students to submit short plays. So, if your 9th-12th grade students are interested in writing, ahve them submit up to two manuscripts in each category: fiction, creative nonfiction, and/or short plays. | The Most Valuable Student Scholarship | $4,000-$60,000 | The Elks National Foundation provides more than $3.64 million in college scholarships each year. | David J. Hallissey Memorial Scholarship | $3,000 | The David J. Hallissey Memorial Scholarship extends $3,000 awards each year to two outstanding freshmen applicants who enroll at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. David J. Hallissey received his B.A. from U of M in 1974 & three years later received his law degree. In 1976, while in Law School he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, but completed his education to begin practicing law. Family and friends select deserving U of M students to perpetuate, in one tangible way, David's achievements. | Elaine and Roger Zatkoff Scholarships | $3,000 | The Elaine and Roger Zatkoff Scholarhsip extends awards of $3,000 to two outstanding freshman applicants to the Universtiy of Michigan- Ann Arbor. The Elaine and Roger Zatkoff Scholarhsips may consder economic need, (as determined by the Office of Financial Aid at the University of Michigan). This award is named in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Zatkoff. Mr. Zatkoff is a member of the class of 1953 at the University of Michigan where he received a scholarship from the UM Club of Greater Detroit. While attending Michigan he was a member of the football team and after college he went on to a pro-football career with the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. Roger and Elaine were married in 1951, after professional football they established Zatkoff Seals and Packings distributorship. | Jan 16 |
| Frederick C. Matthaei Scholarships | $3,000 | The Frederick C. MAtthaei Scholarship extends awards of $3,000 awards to two outstanding freshman applicants to the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. The Frederick C. MAtthaei Scholarship may consider economic need, (as determined by the Office of Financial Aid at the University of Michigan). This award is named in honor of Mr. Matthaei who was founder and chairman of American Metal Products Company which grew under his leadership into an international automotive parts-manufacturing company, headquartered in Detroit. He was a civic leader, an active and generous alumni leader, who served on the Board of Regents at the University from 1960 to 1967. | Jan 16 |
| President's Scholarship | $3,000 | The President's Scholarship extends an award of $3,000 to an outstanding freshman applicant to the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. The President's Scholarship may consider economic need, (as determined by the Office of Financial Aid at the Univrsity of Michigan). This award was established in 2008 for students who wish to attend the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. However, they require additional funds to proceed with their dream. President Mary Sue Coleman established a matching fund arrangement that was raised by the Greater Detroit Club members, which allowed the establishment of this scholarship. | Michigan High School Poetry Contest | $100-$200 | Albion College will again sponsor a poetry contest for high school students in Michigan. All Michigan high school students are eligible to enter. There are no restrictios on the form or subject matter of poems submitted. | College Ain't Cheap Scholarship | $10,000 | Official Entry Form No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Void where prohibited by law. The Contest: In 750 words or less, explain why you (as the most deserving person on the planet) should win a $10,000 prize for tuition/books in the fall of 2009. The contest is open to full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the U.S. or Canada in the fall of 2009. Essays must be original work and should reflect the tone of mental_floss magazine. Winning essays must be truly memorable. | RARE Everyday Hero Scholarship | $2,500 | RARE initiated this competition last year to encourage and support higher education among the youth of our state and to engage more young people in the process of discovering and writing about "Everyday Heroes" in their communities. | Eastern Michigan University Alumni Association Scholarship | $5,000 | Applicants must be admitted to the University. A grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or better is required. All applicants must submit a fully completed Alumni Association Scholarship Application form; a written recommendaation from a teacher, counselor, or other individual; an official copy of their high school transcript (including SAT/ACT scores and a cumulative average); and an essay of 250 words or less stating why they feel uniquely qualified for this award. | The Michigan Oil and Gas Producers Education Foundation | $500 | Qualified applicants must have been accepted for enrollment at a Michigan university or community college, have a minimum 3.0 GPA (computed on a 4.0 scale), and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must also be pursuing a degree in an energy related field of study with the ambition of seeking to obtain full-tim employment in the oil and gas industry, an energy related industry or an allied industry. | AAA Michigan's School Safety Patrol Scholarship Program | $1,000 | 1. Must be graduating high school senior from a public or parochial high school, or private preparatory school, within the service area of AAA Michigan under such reasonable and non-discriminatory rules and regulations as are formally developed by the Committee, and accepted by an institution of higher learning. 2. All applications must include: -A letter of reference from a school teacher, counselor or principal. -A letter of reference from a community representative, youth leader, employer or other -Personal letter of introduction describing community participation, extracurricular activities and what being a Safety Patroller meant to you. -Parent/Guardian signature -School Counselors signature - Copy of junior year transcript- must achieve 3.0 GPA - Copy of ACT score- must achieve 21 or better score; or SAT- must achieve 950 or better score - Documented proof of participation in AAA's School Safety Patrol program. 3. Must have a strong record of participation in the community and extracurricular activities. 4. Children and family members of AAA Michigan employees, officers and board members are not eligible. 5. All applications must be received on or before April 17, 2009. 6. Recipient will be contacted by mail no later than June 12, 2009. Scholarship will be awareded in the name of the student and the instituition of higher learning. Recipient must provide proof of acceptance to an accredited institution of higher learning. 7. Reipient should check with a tax advisor regarding the possible tax implications of this gift. 8. Scholarship must be claimed by September 18, 2009. 9.
