The Social Sciences Department believes that students have the capacity to improve the world through the contributions of their ideas and involvement. The teaching of Christian principles within the context of the Democratic process is a primary concern of this department.
The belief that all students have the capacity to help create the world around them and to contribute their ideas and their involvement to that creation is the basis of the philosophy of this department. To know, to appreciate, to decide, and to act in today's world as a place which extends out into the city, the state, and the nation where the knowledge acquired and the attitudes fostered in the classroom may be concretized. Love of God and country, and the recognition and acceptance of American Democracy and its role in the world, are among the ideals encouraged in our courses.
