 Mrs. Shirley Patterson(734) 284-3533 Position: Attendance Officer Credentials: First Aid and CPR Certified Educational Experience: 1992-Present Gabriel Richard Catholic High School Contributions: Hospitality Committee About Me: I retired from teaching in 2001 after 25 years of high school teaching and 11 years working in parish religious education. When I retired, I helped take care of my grandchildren who were not yet in school. But it seems “once a teacher, always a teacher” applied to me, because I missed being with students and the Richard community which was such a great part of my life. Working in the Attendance Office now affords me the opportunity to still be around young people, my former colleagues, and the parents and alumni I have known over the past years. While in the attendance office, I have the additional responsibility to take care of students who become ill and as a mother and grandmother, I feel I have the experience and compassion to be of assistance. In fact, I now help with students who are sons and daughters of my former students. While working only in the mornings, I can still help with my grandchildren after school until my daughter comes home from work. I feel I am blessed to be retired from all the work that goes with teaching, but still able to be in the educational setting at a wonderful school as GR! |
